Ronald Koshorek
CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI – Ronald W.A. Koshorek, age 83, of Chocolay Township , passed away Monday, December 2, 2024, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.
Born in Pontiac, Michigan, the son of Burtram and Stephanie (Mozarski) Koshorek, Ron was raised in Walled Lake, Michigan, he was a proud member of the Walled Lake High School Class of 1959. After graduation, he began his career at Michigan Bell, where he worked for ten years before embarking on a journey with his beloved wife, Marilyn Beagle, whom he married on June 23, 1962. Over the years, the couple lived in Michigan, Ohio, and Washington State, eventually settling in Marquette to raise their two sons, John and Alex.
While in Marquette, Ronald pursued a degree in Geography at Northern Michigan University, earning his Bachelor’s Degree while balancing his family life and work. He spent many years serving the community in various roles with Chocolay Township and Marquette County before retiring in 1995.
A passionate outdoorsman, Ronald enjoyed saltwater fishing, with fishing trips from Alaska to Costa Rica. He also loved duck and goose hunting, and his culinary talents were a favorite among family and friends. Ronald took great joy in cooking large quantities of exotic foods and welcoming others to enjoy his creations, he was known for his famous “Staff Parties”. Whether he was building rods, woodworking, or tending to his garden, he approached life with a hands-on enthusiasm that inspired those around him.
Known for his honesty, integrity, and stoic nature, Ronald was a loyal friend and a generous man who was always there when needed. He was reliable, honorable, and deeply respected by all who knew him.
Ronald is survived by his son Alex (Mary) Koshorek of Menominee, MI, and his grandchildren Victoria Mankee and Olivia Koshorek, also of Menominee. He will be missed by many faithful friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marilyn, his parents, and a son John Koshorek.
A memorial service for Ron and Marilyn will be held at the Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Monday, December 16, 2024. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm with a service at 4:00 pm with Pastor Chad Mager officiating. Following the service, a “staff party” will be held in the funeral home’s reception room, where large amounts of exotic food will be shared in honor of Ronald’s love for good food and good company.
