MARQUETTE, MIKaren Jo Clark, 65, of Marquette, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024, at her home, with her family by her side and under the care of Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice.
She was born June 3, 1959, in Marquette, a daughter of the late Dexter Clark and Helen (Melka) Salo. Karen grew up in the rustic West Branch of the UP and always appreciated her childhood experiences in the woods with nature. She was a life-long resident of the area and was a 1977 graduate of Marquette Senior High School.
Karen was employed for 25 years as a rural carrier for the US Postal Service, retiring in 2021. Her work was dear to her as she was a dedicated and loyal employee and coworker.
She loved and had exquisite talent for quilting and created many beautiful quilts for her family. Her other interests included puzzles, reading and listening to country music, her favorites being Kris Kristofferson and Randy Travis. Karen loved a good, spirited game of cribbage, Skip-bo, or Michigan Rummy. She enjoyed being outdoors , especially at her home in AuTrain on the river where she could see the shores of Lake Superior, and she could be with her family and loved ones.
Karen is survived by two daughters, Tonia (Jason) Lintula of Marquette and Marla Ogea of Marquette; grandchildren, Landen Seaman, Sawyer Seaman and Danica Jo Lintula; sister, Linda Clark of Eben; brother, John Clark of Skandia; nieces & nephews, Pamela Clark of River Rouge, MI, Kimberly (Randy) Wetton of Negaunee, Dexter (Andrea) Clark of Marquette, Sara (Brian) Eggebrecht of Marinette, MI, Trina (Dan) Stephenson of Minnesota, Erin (Lance) Meeks of Cooks, MI, Dave (Kattie) Nykanen of Gwinn and Nicole (Victor) Aho of Eben; a special cousin, Debbie Kallatsa and several other cousins, great and great-great nieces & nephews; and father of her children and lifelong friend, Roger Ogea. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Danny, Gary, and Michael Clark, and her brother-in-law Gordon Nykanen.
Honoring Karen’s wishes, there will be no services.
