Duane Plattenberg

Duane was born July 5, 1968, in Marquette, MI to the late Harold and Esther (Peterson) Plattenberg.

Duane was a 1986 graduate of Negaunee High School. He was a member of the US Army and served from 1987-1995 as a AH-1 Cobra helicopter repairman. Duane served with 3rd Battalion 101 Aviation, Fort Campbell, KY. He also served with the 1st Battalion 3rd Aviation in Geiblestadt, Germany and finished his service with 1st Battalion 10th Aviation in Fort Drum, NY.

Duane began his career in 1997 as an airline mechanic for American Airlines in Tulsa, OK. He served 25+ years with American, ending his career at Chicago O’HARE Airport. Duane was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions, Detroit Redwings and NASCAR. When visiting his family in the U.P. he could be found in the backyard smoking beef brisket, pork shoulder, and everyone’s favorite ribs.

Survivors include Duane’s children: Tyler of Dallas, TX, Joshua, Meghan, and Matthew all of Marquette, MI. His siblings: Dianne (Robert) Botefuhr of Bensenville, IL, Harold (Bobbie) Plattenberg Jr. Ovid, MI, Debbie (Phil) Argall of Negaunee, MI and David Plattenberg of Negaunee, MI. Nieces and Nephews: Elizabeth, Bryan, Daniel, Zoe, Sarah, Ethan, Kassidy & Isaac. Mother of his children: Kristina (EJ) Mutersbaugh. Aunts and Uncles: Marie (late John) Lyford of Yuba City, CA, Eleanor (Larry) Balagna of Negaunee, MI, Norm (Carol) Plattenberg of Sugar Land, TX, Jerry (Carolyn) Plattenberg of Champion, MI and Karen (Rick) Koski of Ishpeming, MI. Along with numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold “Cookie” and Esther Plattenberg,
