Ruth Cox

ISHPEMING, MI- Ruth Lynn “Ding” Cox, 70, lifelong Ishpeming area resident passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at UP Health System Marquette, with her family at her side.

Ruth was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on July 16, 1954, a daughter of the late Helen L. (Stone) and Roy Dymond. She was among the last graduating class of National Mine High School, class of 1972.

Ruth worked for the Ishpeming School District in food service and as a teacher’s aide, retiring in 2012. She loved camping, playing card games, horseshoes, softball, and BINGO. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and never missed any of their events.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 47 years, David R. Cox, a daughter Jessi (Perry) Nora, two sons; Daniel (Monica) Cox and Andrew Cox, her grandchildren Cedric Nora, Isabella Nora, David Cox, Cole Nora, Andrew Cox, Owen Cox, and Emily Cox, her first expecting great grandson, a brother Roy Dymond, a special niece Tammy Hytinen, along with other nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Betsy Lawer and Judy Morcom.

A Celebration of Ruth Life will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday October 18th at River Rock Lanes in Ishpeming.
