John Madison

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna (Watson) Madison, daughters Maria (Bryant) Stuckey, Alethea Melissa (Ron) Shelly. Grandsons John Mark, Christopher and Caleb. John is survived by his brother R. Sidney Madison Piscataway NJ and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He graduated from Edsel Ford High School, Dearborn in 1962, received an undergraduate degree in Economics from U of M Flint and an MBA from Western. He had a long successful career in Information Technology, starting with programming mainframe computers and retiring as Vice President of Marketing Research and Inventory Control. John retired in 2010 as CIO – Chief Information Officer of Kaydon.

When John wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing golf, watching football, and playing card games including bridge. After John retired all these took a backseat to supporting his grandsons by attending extracurricular events, even chauffeuring them.

Often, he came across as a gruff man, but those that knew him, found him to be deeply kind, thoughtful and humble beneath his rough exterior. John was devoted to his wife, and he taught his daughters to value family and kindness. John was loved and will be missed.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at The First Presbyterian Church of Munising. Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 pm with the funeral starting at 3:00 pm. Food and fellowship in Celebration of John’s life will be at the Moose Lodge after the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Your church, Munising Public Library, Alger County Food Pantry or a charity of your choice.
