Daniel Hendrickson

NEGAUNEE, TWP, MI-Daniel John Hendrickson, 75, longtime Negaunee Township resident, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, October 17, 2024 at Marquette County Medical Care Facility with his loving family at his side.

Dan was born July 27, 1949 in Wakefield to Uno and Elaine (Armata) Hendrickson, and graduated from Wakefield High School. He continued his education at Northern Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, and also earned an Associate’s Degree in graphic arts from Ferris State University. He married Christine Rukkila on August 1, 1970, and together they raised their two sons in Negaunee Township. Dan worked as a graphic artist in the printing industry for 38 years. Many of those years were with Lake Superior Press, from where he retired in 2011.

Mr. Hendrickson was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee, where he served on the property committee, and was also a member of the Negaunee Elks Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood carving and woodworking, his Thursday Cribbage League, family reunions, attending his sons and grandchildren’s sporting events and music concerts, brook trout fishing, and golfing. He never missed a deer season, and especially loved going to camp with three generations, 4-wheeling, and teaching his grandsons hunting safety.

Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Christine Hendrickson; two sons, Scott (Melissa) Hendrickson of Marquette, and Todd (Carly) Hendrickson of East Lansing; five grandchildren: Paige, Jamie, Tyler, Dylan and Ella Hendrickson; two brothers, John (Josh) and Jim (Amy) Tarro; his sister, Jean (Kris) Koski; two brothers-in-law, Bruce (Pat) and Dave (Patti) Rukkila; two sisters-in-law, Shelley (Paul) Koski and Dawna Rukkila; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother-in-law, Rodney Rukkila.

Daniel’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Catherine Kroll and the wonderful staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for the wonderful care provided.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 2nd at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee, with Rev. Bre Kinnunen officiating. Interment will follow at the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday, and also at a luncheon immediately following graveside services in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Dan’s memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
