Daniel Frank

GLADWIN, MI – Daniel Andrew Frank, age 89, of Gladwin, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming, in the comforting care of his son, Daniel.
Dan was born November 7, 1934, in Detroit, a son of Charles and Minnie (Limback) Frank. He was raised in Detroit, growing up at 8 Mile and Woodward, where he sold newspapers during World War II. He attended St. James Catholic School until the 8th Grade. In his teens and early twenties, Dan worked as a garage mechanic. On April 19, 1959, Dan was united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Shirley May Hall, and together the couple established their home and began raising their family. Dan continued working in the automotive industry for over twenty years, until his retirement. Dan was a lifelong dog lover, a passion that developed from his early years when his family was involved in sportsman’s shows with field dog demonstrations.
In his leisure time, Dan also enjoyed bird watching, duck hunting, and was an avid fan of Detroit sports, Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings.
Dan is survived by his son, Daniel E. (Tamara) Frank of Gwinn; his grandchildren, Briana (Howard) Blake, Jacob (Crystal) Frank, and Heather Hammond; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Madalynn, Mason, Lily, Emma, Reagan, Brandon, Caiden, and Darcy; several nieces and a nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley May; daughter, Janine Ann; brothers, Donald and Douglas Frank; sister-in-law, Delores Frank.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for their compassionate and professional care, and for the many kindnesses they extended to the family.
Honoring Dan’s request, no public services will be held.
