Amanda Heikkila

ISHPEMING, MI- Amanda Marina Heikkila, 85, lifelong area resident, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at UP Health System Bell.

Amanda was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on October 1, 1939, a daughter of the late Louis and Eva (Nault) Hebert. She was a 1958 graduate of Ishpeming High School.

Marina worked at the H.W. Gossard Company and local restaurants including Burger King where she retired from. Marina was a generous support and lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was their organist for many years. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing cards with her sisters and an occasional trip to the casino.

Marina is survived by her sister Rita Lusardi, a special niece Faye Lewis, special nephews Jared and Raymond Ringuette along with numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvar, five brothers; Leo, Leonard, Melvin, Clarence, and Donald, and seven sisters; Madella Perttunen, Beulah Ringuette, Verna Hillier, Gloria Tonge, Germaine Filizetti, Dorothy DePetro, and Evelyn Valella.

Marina’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Fr. Christian Flagstadt to officiate.

The pallbearers will be David Lusardi, Dennis Tonge, Lee Ringuette, Kevin Ringuette, John Filizetti and John Heikkila.

Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
