HUNTINGTON, NY – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Scott D. Eliason of Delray Beach, FL and Huntington, NY, who died at age 69 on July 18, 2024 after a year long battle with cancer.
Scott David Eliason, was born on April 18th, 1955 in Ishpeming, MI to Arne and June Eliason.
He was a graduate of Champion High School, class of 1973. Scott attended Suomi College for one year, then transferred to Northern Michigan University where he graduated in 1977 with a teaching degree. He worked for 5 years in the Florence County School District, WI. He then switched careers to Champion International for 25 years. After moving to Florida to be near his sons and grandchildren, he taught at the Palm Beach County Schools for 10 years and retired.
Scott was a history teacher and was able to pursue that passion throughout his life whether it was through travel or the countless books he would read. He enjoyed time with his family and friends, the beach, Green Bay Packers, Car racing, and more recently sailing with friends in Long Island, NY.
Scott is survived by partner Joan Fotinatos, sons Eric (Bethany) Eliason and Andrew (Jodi) Eliason, grandchildren: Lola, Evie, Wyatt and Ace Eliason: brother and sisters: Steven (Denise) Eliason, Vicki Gaboury, Suzi (Donald) Zaiki: numerous nieces and nephews: former wife Janice Eliason.
Scott was proceeded in death by his parents Arne and June Eliason.
As per Scott’s request, his ashes will be spread in the ocean by his family, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
