Janice Herstrom
MARQUETTE, MI – Janice Mary Herstrom, age 82, of Marquette, entered eternal life Friday morning, September 13, 2024, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.
Born March 14, 1942, in Calumet, a daughter of Russell and Margaret (Banovetz) Herstrom, Jan was raised and graduated from high school in the Copper Country.
For many years, Jan was employed as a receptionist-secretary with UP Catholic Social Services in Marquette. Throughout the years, she enjoyed her working relationships with the Alger-Marquette Community Action Board and with Catholic Social Services. Jan loved being a member of the St. Anthony of Padua Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order as well as being a member of St. Peter Cathedral. A lover of animals (a Franciscan trait), Jan especially loved her cat, Ralph.
Jan leaves behind a host of friends who will miss her sweet smile.
Friends may call at the Bishop’s Room located at St. Peter Cathedral on Tuesday, September 24, beginning at 10:00 am. The St. Anthony of Padua Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order will recite the rosary at 10:40 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in the Cathedral. Rev. Brandon Oman, pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will be made in the family plot at Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
