David Bussiere
MARQUETTE, MI- David William Bussiere of Marquette was found dead in bed at his home on September 22, 2024.
Born on June 28, 1960, the son of William and Eileen (Just) Bussiere. Raised in Republic, David graduated from Republic-Michigamme High School in 1978. After graduation, Dave worked for Republic Township before joining the Army for four years from 1980 to 1984. He served as a cavalry scout on tours in South Korea and Fort Hood, Texas. While serving at Fort Hood, he was involved in a motorcycle car accident that left him with a permanent lower back injury that prevented him from making the Army a career. After leaving the service with an honorable discharge due to physical disability, Dave worked for a few years at Jacks IGA in Harvey but found the work too hard for his back and had to quit. Eventually, Dave found a job at Bright Star Cleaning Service, where he worked until back and shoulder injuries forced him to retire.
David loved to travel all over the UP enjoying the scenic beauty. His favorite hobbies were motorcycling, 4-wheeling, and hiking. He enjoyed listening to rock music and watching music videos. Astronomy, weather, and Detroit muscle cars from the late 60’s were some of Dave’s biggest interests, subjects that captivated him and fueled many conversations with friends and family.
David is survived by his loving mother, Eileen Tuomi of Republic, his brothers Paul (Kyong) of Ishpeming, MI, and Dan (CeCelia) Bussiere of Kingsford, MI; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish his memory.
Preceeding him in death were his father William and two stepfathers, Clifford LaParche and Theodore Tuomi.
Honoring David’s wishes, no public services will be held. The Fassbender Swanson Hanson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family where condolences may be expressed online at www.fassbenderswansonhansen.com.
