Leslie Arthur Pelto
MARQUETTE TWP, MI – Leslie Arthur Pelto, age 68, of Marquette Township, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024. Leslie was born on October 4, 1955, the son of Leslie J. and Sarah (Livermore) Pelto. Leslie was known for his loving nature, creativity, and remarkable sense of humor.
Leslie grew up in Marquette graduating from Marquette Senior High School in 1973. His passion for craftsmanship led him to join the Carpenters Union Local 1510, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in construction. Outside of the trades Leslie had many passions. He spent time creating custom cabinets, hand crafting longbows, carving wooden spoons, deer hunting, stream fishing, making homemade bread, pasties, and reading. He relished the time he spent at his cabin with a daily viewing of his favorite movie, Alone in the Wilderness.
Always willing to lend a helping hand, he had many friends and neighbors who will miss his guidance and talents.
Leslie is survived by his devoted life partner Cynthia Etten. His children, Candy Fletcher, Shailah Pelto (JT Olson), Joseph Pelto, and Danielle (Steven) Collick. Grandchildren, Reuben Olson, Emma and Ellie Collick all of Marquette. His mother, Sarah Pelto, of Marquette; siblings, Kathy (Jeff) Argall of Marquette; Susan Pelto of Oklahoma; and Dan (Tonya) Pelto of Marquette; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie J. Pelto.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Friday, August 23 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Services will be held at 6:00 pm with Pastor Kevin Taylor officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception room.
