BIG BAY, MI – Kirk James Marjomaki, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on August 11, 2024, at the young age of 35 in Big Bay, Michigan, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 22, 1989, in Marquette, Michigan, Kirk’s life was one marked by kindness, intelligence, and creativity.
Growing up in Marquette, he was a proud graduate of Marquette Senior High School, where his passion for learning and his artistic abilities shown brightly. After graduating, his love for the culinary arts led him to a fulfilling career as a cook at multiple restaurants. His warmth and dedication to his craft were greatly appreciated by colleagues and patrons alike.
Kirk had a deep passion for skateboarding, an activity that not only showcased his physical dexterity but also his dedication to mastering intricate tricks and techniques. His love for drawing was another facet of his artistic expression, with his sketches and designs reflecting a keen eye for detail and a vivid imagination.
A true digital native, Kirk found solace in the world of computers. Streaming shows, playing games, but always learning. Often found troubleshooting computer issues for friends and family. He was always eager to lend a helping hand. His digital expertise was matched by a genuine desire to connect with people, making him a beloved member of his online communities.
Kirk’s love for animals was evident to all who knew him, as he was often surrounded by pets that he cared for with great tenderness and compassion. His ability to connect with animals was a testament to his gentle spirit.
Those who had the pleasure of hanging out with Kirk, knew that time spent with him was full of unforgettable moments. He had the unique ability to make friends feel like family, and his absence will be deeply felt by the many lives he touched.
Kirk is survived by his loving father, Kirk E. Marjomaki; his devoted brother, Wayne A. Marjomaki; grandmother, Janice K. Little; and numerous friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca B. Marjomaki, whose memory he cherished with deep love and respect, and his honorable grandparents, James W. Marjomaki, Sheila B. Marjomaki, and Richard A. Little.
Kirk’s memory will be treasured in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Kirk. Your light will never fade.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September, 7th, 2024, 11:30 a.m. at the Powell Township Cemetery. A celebration of Kirk’s life will follow the burial at the Thunder Bay Inn from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Kirk’s family would like to welcome all family and friends to attend.
