John Archibald

John was born in Negaunee on August 22, 1932, to Ralph S. Archibald and Emma Quinn Archibald. He graduated from St. Thomas Academy, Minnesota, and Lehigh University in 1954. He retired from Chase Manhattan Bank as SVP Group Executive of Commercial Banking and became Vice Chairman at Josephson International, an affiliate of ICM. He served on the Boards of Carson, Pirie, Scott; General Instrument and Chock Full of Nuts. He served as President of the Mid-Atlantic Health Group, the parent company for Monmouth Medical Center. As a member of the Board of Trustees, he served as Chief Operating Officer for the Hospital from 1990-1995. John served on the Visiting Nurses Association of Central Jersey Board of Trustees from 2002-2013. He was an Emeritus Trustee of both RWJ Barnabas Health Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center Foundation.

A longtime resident of Rumson, NJ, John served as a trustee of the Oceanic Library in Rumson, and was a member of Rumson Country Club, Sea Bright Beach Club, and Mid-Ocean Club in Bermuda.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nora McCarthy Archibald; his children: Michael Quinn Archibald (San Diego, CA), Anne Archibald Williams (Los Angeles, CA), John Christie, Jr. (Jeanne) (Atlantic Highlands, NJ), and Sally Archibald Roberts (Vero Beach, FL); as well as six grandchildren and four great- grandsons.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, August 14th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Champion, with Rev. Christian Flagstadt officiating. Graveside services will immediately follow at the Negaunee Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Visiting Nurses Association of Central Jersey or Monmouth Medical Center Foundation would be appreciated.
