Elizabeth Bussiere

Liz was born on September 2, 1948 in Stoneham, MA to William and Marion (Winter) Ruby, Sr. She graduated from both Salem State College in Boston, MA and also Northern Michigan University in Marquette.

Liz worked various jobs in her life including being a substitute teacher for Ontonagon Schools, the Department of Social Services in Iron River, MI and The Spa of Marquette. Liz worked as an accountant for the State of Michigan at Alger Maximum Security Prison in Munising, MI, retiring in November of 2008 after 15 years.

Liz really loved playing bridge and got together with her bridge group 3-4 times per week, and earned her Life Master certificate. She enjoyed Star Trek and the Big Bang Theory, sudoku puzzles and reading. Most of all Liz loved being with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Liz is survived of her wife of 38 years, Shirley Brozzo of Marquette; six children, Don Bussiere, Cindy (Dan) Strong, Andy (Natalie) Bussiere, Jamie (Jen Rasmussen) Brozzo, Brandi Brozzo and Steve (Jen) Brozzo; 11 grandchildren, Chris (Ali) Bussiere, Lexie (Hunter) Folkman, Austin Bussiere, Dillon Nelson, Lana Bussiere, Lacey Bussiere, Cody Brozzo, Addison Strong, Delaney Strong, Haylee Brozzo and Wyatt Brozzo; two-great grandchildren, Corbin Bussiere and Caden Bussiere; her four brothers, Bill, Peter, Brian and Sean.

Besides her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her sisters, Lee Worley and Nancy Wilson.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Plocher officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service in the funeral home.
