NEGAUNEE, MI- Carol Mae Johns, 90, of Negaunee, passed away at home Thursday evening, June 27, 2024 while in the care of her loving family.

Carol was born January 21, 1934 in Kingsford to Louis and Fairryl (Peterson) Dauzy and attended Kingsford Schools. She married the late Alvin Johns on June 20, 1952 and together they raised two children and were foster parents to many girls for over 20 years. Carol was a loving and devoted homemaker to her family.

Mrs. John’s was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee and also belonged to TOPS in her younger years, and was proud to be a TOP KOP. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, volunteering at the Negaunee VFW and most importantly, being with and taking care of her family. Her smile will be missed by anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting her. To know her was to love her!

Surviving are her daughters, Cheryl Vasseau and Cindy Petrocik, both of Negaunee; four siblings: Joyce (Peter) Conigliaro, Judith (Ronald) Causley, Louis (Linda) Dauzy and Edward Dauzy; her most special little friend, Jordan; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alvin in 2021; her son, Alvin, Jr.; granddaughter, Amber Vasseau; and her sister, Sally.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Carol’s caregivers from UPCAP, Sunny Days, UP Home Health and Hospice, and Fr. Larry Van Damme and Sharon Schrandt from St. Paul Catholic Church for their faithful ministry.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Northland Chapel Gardens with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating.
