Suzanne Swanson

Suzy was born May 7, 1960 in Iron Mountain to Donald and Nancy (Tuomela) Swanson, graduated from Ishpeming High School, and was a longtime area resident. She continued her education at Northern Michigan University where she earned her Bachelor’s in Education. Suzy worked locally at Northern Michigan University, Houghton Law Office, and was also a substitute teacher in various local school districts.

In her spare time, she enjoyed shooting pool in local leagues, being at camp on Big Perch Lake, and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Gregg Corkin; two brothers, Dan Swanson of Ishpeming, and David (Suzy) Swanson of Colorado; her mother-in-law, Kay Corkin; her nieces: Jenny Swanson, Jackie (Eric) Korpi, Teal Swanson, Anna Swanson, Erica Korpi, Ariah Swanson, and Rivenna Swanson; nephews: Michael (Belinda) Swanson, Connor Swanson, Trevor Swanson, and Maverick Swanson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Gerald Corkin; and her sister-in-law, Cindy Swanson.

Honoring Suzy’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held.
