NEGAUNEE, MI- Michael John Juidici, 73, of Negaunee, entered eternal life Friday afternoon, June 14, 2024 at his home, under the care of his loving family and UP Home Health & Hospice, following a courageous battle with neuroendocrine cancer.
Mike was born November 7, 1950 in Ishpeming to John and Jennie ‘Marian’ (Harvala) Juidici, graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1969, and was a lifelong area resident. He was employed as a serviceman for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company, retiring in 2002 after 33 years with the company.
Mr. Juidici was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, as well as the United Steelworkers Retirees Club, and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Being unable to serve his country due to hearing loss, he was honored to be able to serve the City of Negaunee as a 27-year member of the Negaunee Fire Department, and also served Marquette County as a 16-year member of Marquette County Rescue 131.
In his spare time, Mike loved being at their family camp of over 42 years on Helen Lake with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan and a loyal supporter of the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Tigers, NASCAR, and the Negaunee Miners. In his younger years, he participated locally in bowling, pool, and cribbage leagues.
Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Colleen Juidici; two sons, Darren (LeAnn) Smith of Lakewood, CA and Craig (Tammie) Smith of Waupaca, WI; his beloved grandchildren: Samantha Smith, Amanda (David) Figueroa, Melanie (Nathan) Petrisin, Courtney (fiancÈ, Cameron) Wilson, and Zachary and Hunter Smith; his great-grandchildren: Ivy Rose, Ryker, and Damian; aunt, June Lummukka; nephew, Paul Lummukka; sister-in-law, Peggy Tossava; and brother-in-law, Archie (Sally) Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Mary Beth Juidici; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Friday, June 21st at St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the start of Mass at noon at the church on Friday, and also at a luncheon immediately following Mass in the St. Paul School gymnasium.
