John A. LaBonte

John was born on July 23, 1937 in Calumet, MI to Norman and Bernadine (Hermann) LaBonte. He was a 1956 graduate of Calumet High School.

John married the former Gloria G. Nettell on December 27, 1958 at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton, MI.

John worked for Dresseler Mechanical for a number of years and also owned the Fourth Street Laundromat and Harvey Laundromat. He was a very dedicated and hard worker. John enjoyed many years of going to camp, four-wheeling and snowmobiling, and especially loved woodworking.

John is survived by his wife, Gloria LaBonte of Marquette; three daughters, Kelly (Tom) LaBonte-Winter of Marquette, Patty (John) Myefski of Chicago, IL and Terry (Rich) Jeleniewski of Plymouth, MI; five grandchildren, Michael LaBonte, Lauren (Owen) Graham, Christopher (Krista) Myefski, Tyler (Cathy) Jeleniewski and Jordan Kay Jeleniewski; two step-grandchildren, Ben (Amanda) and Vince Winter; nine great-grandchildren, Julian, Crosby, Leah, and one expected great-granddaughter, Avery, Everly, Taylor, Parker, and Hunter; sister, Carol Ann Carlton. Besides his parents,

John was preceded in death by his grandson, David Marier; three brothers, Herman LaBonte, Ronald LaBonte and Norman LaBonte; and his brother-in-law, William “Bill” Carlton.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Deacon Don Thoren officiating. A light luncheon will follow at the funeral home.
