Jeanette E. (Berry) Vaughan
MARQUETTE, MI – Jeanette E. Vaughan (Berry), of Marquette, lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
Born January 26, 1938, in Marquette, a daughter of John A. and Melba P. (Betts) Berry, she was raised in Marquette, graduating from the Graveraet High School in 1956.
On May 18, 1957, she married Gerald “Jerry” Vaughan and remained a lifelong resident of the Marquette area. Jeanette was employed for many years as a bartender and waitress and enjoyed playing cribbage for most of her life. She also enjoyed reading, traveling, jigsaw puzzles and Yahtzee. Jeanette volunteered at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans for 19 years up until the pandemic started. She was a member of St. Peter Cathedral and the American Legion Post 44 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan (Lloyd) Baughcum of Green Bay, WI; a son, Dale (Barb) Vaughan of Greenfield, MA; sister, Mary (David) Stephens of Kalamazoo, MI; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Jim) Berry of Bayonet Point, FL and Jackque (Jack) Berry of Hurley, NM; her grandchildren, Derek Vaughan, Linwood (Emily) Vaughan, Evan (Tiffani) Baughcum, Stefanie (Jesse) Anderson, Lydia (Titan) Vaughan; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Linda Hough and Cathy Woodward (her Sissy’s). She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald “Jerry”; a son, Stephen; and brothers, Jim and John (Jack) Berry; and special friend, Lloyd Helt.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 7, 2024 at 1 pm at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
