Thomas John Cody

Tom was born September 5, 1953 in Marquette to Clayton and Margaret (Carlin) Cody, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1973, and was a lifelong area resident. Tom worked over 30 years with Negaunee Public Schools in various roles, including maintenance, custodial, and grounds keeping.

Mr. Cody was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and he especially loved being at his camp in Big Bay. Being in the woods was his favorite place to be. He was a true woodsman. Tom was very proud of his family, and he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren as often as possible.

Surviving are his two sons, Matt (Bethany) and Luke (Ashley) Cody; his daughter, Sara Cody; his beloved grandchildren: Trey Laurin, Eli and Max Cody, and Michael and Melanie Cody; his former wife and friend, Sue (Rick) Shaffer; his sister, Judy (Ben) Vanni; sisters-in-law, Kathy and Darlene Cody; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Clayton, Jim and Mike Cody; his good buddies, John and Bart Luoma; and his canine pals, Rosco and Wolf.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, May 23rd at Koskey Funeral Home, with Rev. Ryan Ford officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until that start of services at Noon at the funeral home on Thursday, and also at a luncheon immediately following services at the Negaunee Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Tom’s memory to the Negaunee Booster Club.
