NEGAUNEE, MI – Thomas James Petrocik, 49, of Negaunee, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Tom was born May 24, 1974, in Ishpeming, to Thomas and Renae (Kratz) Petrocik, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1992, and earned his welding certification from Northern Michigan University. Tom worked as an aircraft mechanic with American Airlines.

Tom was a life member of VA Romo Post #3165, Negaunee VFW, Auxiliary. In his spare time, he loved being at the family camp where he could enjoy a sauna while listening to music, enjoying a beer, and eating ice cream with his boys.

Surviving are his wife, Brandi (Carlson) Petrocik; his three sons: Cooper, Spencer and Isaac; his mother, Renae Petrocik; two sisters, Michele (Jeff) Kontio and Jacklyn (Kevin) Royea; father-in- law, Dean (Mickie) Carlson; grandmother-in-law, Dolly Carlson; brother-in-law, Keith Carlson; nieces and nephews: Jeffrey Kontio, Jared (Leah Dompierre) Kontio, Morgan (Jake) Kari, Mitchell (Katie) Royea, Lydia (Cody) Kuliu, and Alli, Jack and Noah Carlson; and his best friend, Jason (Holly) Mattson; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Petrocik; and mother-in-law, Penny Carlson.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 24th at Koskey Funeral Home. A luncheon will immediately follow at the Negaunee VFW. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to VA Romo Post #3165, Negaunee VFW.
