Renee C. Burns

She was born February 16, 1958, in Detroit, a daughter of the late Carl F. and Ida Mae (Roberson) Hall, Sr. She was raised in Detroit and was a 1977 graduate of Southwestern High School.

On June 15, 1985 she married Oliver Burns, Jr. in Detroit. The couple moved to Marquette in 1985 for Oliver’s job. She had worked a variety of jobs through the years including at Jessica & Company Salon, CJ’s, Shopko, NMU Food Service and at UP Health System-Marquette prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and participated in local bowling leagues.

Renee is survived by her husband, Oliver Burns, Jr. of Marquette; children, Oliver Burns III of Escanaba, Ko’wayne T. (Emily Kettu) Burns of Negaunee and Ebonie L. Burns of Gwinn; grandchildren, Dayvea, Matt, Skyler, Mya, Gianna and Jalen; siblings, Jeri Hall of Romulus, MI and Earl Hall of Westland, MI; and sister-in-law, Virginia Saleem of Detroit.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Carl, Shirley Brown and Denise.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 2 pm at Silver Creek Church with Rev. Kevin Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 pm until the time of the service at the church.
