Gregory J. “Oumpa” Stampee

Greg was born in Ishpeming on March 30, 1958, son of Barbara (Dushane) Stampee, and the late Jerry “Pups” Stampee. He grew up in Ishpeming and graduated from Ishpeming High School with the class of 1976. Following graduation he worked at the Ropes Gold Mine and the White Pine Mine for several years before attending Northern Michigan University where he graduated with an Associates in Criminal Justice. He also attended Autobody school at NMU. Greg married his wife of 42 years Kathy (Crabb) Stampee on May 1, 1982.

Greg loved gardening, hunting, fishing, being in the woods, his sauna, and going to the Voelker deer camp with his family and friends. He also enjoyed bowling, and playing cribbage.

Greg Is survived by his wife- Kathy (Crabb) Stampee, 2 children- Alicia (William Lujan) Stampee, Michael Stampee, mother- Barbara Stampee, brother- Jeffrey (Darlene) Stampee, 2 sister-in-laws- Lynn Dalton and Jackie Altobello, 1 niece- Ashley Stampee, 1 nephew- Jeffrey (Ashley) Stampee, along with several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, brother- Mark Stampee, father and mother-in-law- Jack and Barb Crabb, along with numerous cousins.

Greg’s family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm with Fr. Christian Flagstadt officiating.
