Clinton Jones, Jr.

Clint Jones Jr.

ISHPEMING, MI- Clinton Jones, Jr. passed away Friday April 19th with his wife and sons at his side.

Clint was born in Milwaukee, WI on July 6, 1944. He lived in the Upper Midwest his entire life and spent most of his life in God’s Country.

Clint was a Railroader and an Industrial Archaeologist. He started his career working for the Milwaukee Road at the age of 20. Throughout his career he worked for several railroads as well as owning and operating his own. Most recently, the Mineral Range Railroad in Marquette County. He had a keen interest in not just railroading but also mining history, especially that of the Copper Country. At the time of his death he was still working, a career that spanned over 60 years.

Clint loved animals and enjoyed spending time outside as much as possible. The family camp in Eagle River, MI was his favorite place to do this. Sunflower seeds, bread, and other treats were regularly fed to the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, deer, and any other critters lucky enough to have Clint in the Keweenaw. Clint had no problem finding joy in the simple things in life. All he needed was an empty container, wild blueberries, and he was a happy man.

On August 16, 1974 Clint married Francine Rouleau in Milwaukee, WI. They shared many wonderful experiences in their 50 years of marriage. Clint and Francine’s marriage was a perfect example of true friends who also happened to love each other. In addition to Francine, Clint is survived by his two sons Chris (Linda) and Pete (Naima) who were his business partners over the last ten years. He has two grandchildren, Sophie age 8 and Liam age 7.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clint and Helen Jones.

A celebration of his life is planned for later this summer in Eagle River, MI.
