Michael Cowling

Michael was born in Marquette, Michigan on February 28, 1950. He served his country in the US Army with two tours of duty in Vietnam. Mike received his GED from the Nice Community Schools.

Mike worked as a heavy equipment operator for CCI working at the Empire and Tilden Mines. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. More recently he loved gardening. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #380.

Mike is survived by his wife of 35 years Vicky (Anderson) Cowling, four children; Katrina Ogea of Republic, Kristina Rivord of Lomira, WI; Michael (Elisa) Cowling of Ishpeming; and Josiah (Samantha) Cowling of Waterville, ME; 2 grandsons Chay Ogea and Elijah Cowling, five sisters, Mary Kay (Patrick) Pleaugh, Rose Livingston, Bonnie Nash, Joan (Russell) Goodwin, and Diane Blankley, four brothers, Paul Cowling, Edward (Sharon) Cowling, John (Laura) Cowling and Patrick Cowling, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Laura (Tousignant) Cowling, a grandson Ethan Cowling, and a sister Carol McKay.

Honoring Mike’s wishes cremation will take place and he will be put at rest at his favorite outdoor locations.

Mike’s family would like to thank all his nurses, doctors and staff at UP Health System Marquette and the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center for their wonderful care.
