Mia Terre Sanders

Born on New Years Eve 1971, in the city of Flint, Michigan, she came into the world on a night of brilliance and celebration, a gift that she would spend the remainder of her days attempting to return to all who came into her path.

Mia grew up in the Marquette area, having moved there as a child with her parents.

Although tortured by moving to a location devoid of the big city glamour that she had enjoyed so much in her first four years, she was eventually to develop a great love for the beaches of Lake Superior.

These shores remain a place that so many have fond memories of spending time with her.

From a young age, Mia developed a passion for singing, theater, and pageantry, later taking her talents as far as The Miss Michigan USA competition, where her gift for singing awarded her first prize in the talent portion of the pageant.

The world was her stage, and Mia was never afraid to use her voice.

In her middle years, Mia became a mother to three beautiful children; Santiago Sanders Mendez, Senara Anais Sanders Mendez and Gabriel Sanders Mendez.

After living in several West Coast locations, traveling became an integral part of Mia’s exploration of the beauty she sought in the world.

Amidst her travels, she developed a deep love for the Hawaiian islands, living out her latter years exploring all they had to offer.

Mia will be remembered for her generosity, love of beauty, and a truly compassionate heart.

Mia will be remembered as a woman who lived life from the heart and carried with her a magnetically warm spirit.

In the summer of 2024, a small family memorial service will be held on the shores of Lake Superior in her honor and memory.
