James Peter Klumb

MARQUETTE, MI – James Peter Klumb, 62, of Marquette, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024, at home in the presence of his loving family and under the care of Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice after a brief battle with cancer.

Jim was born August 15, 1961, in Marquette, Michigan, a son of Ronald and Jean (Sleeman) Klumb and was a graduate of Marquette Senior High School.

Jim was a Jack of all trades. After a brief residence in Houston, he moved back to Marquette where he owned and operated Jim Dandy Caps. Throughout his working years, he found passion in many careers, including cooking at the Northwoods Supper Club. Still, his real passion was being a heavy equipment mechanic where he found employment over the years at Associated Contractors, Closer Construction, and Cleveland Cliffs where he retired after 15 years.

In his free time, Jim could be found in the garage, outdoors, working on family or friend’s vehicles, or lending a friend a cold beer. He was a man full of integrity and empathy. He looked for the good in each person, and usually found it. He was a busy man – a man in constant motion – but never too busy to share his love of life with those around him. His devotion could be seen in the meals he cooked for his family or coworkers on holidays, or by his inability to relax until his wife and daughter had everything they needed. Jim took pride in everything he did, always going above and beyond to ensure that even the most mundane task was done to the best of his ability.

Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, the love of his life, Tracy; two children, James D (Andrea) Klumb and Jordyn (Jonas Revord) Klumb; his father, Ron (Ardis) Klumb of Marquette and his mother, Jean (Robert) Papp of Virginia; grandchildren, Mattyx Nicely, Harlow and Lakelynn Klumb of Marquette; siblings, Pamela Nagelkirk of California, Vicki Nesbit of Marquette, Mary (Don) Hoeber of North Carolina, Cindy (John Aleandro) Klumb of Virginia, Dan (Tricia) Klumb of Marquette, and Nancy (Beth Dimun) Morgan of Virginia, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Ronald and Barbara Adams; sister-in-law, Lynn Adams; brothers, Michael Mineau, David Klumb, and Robert Papp.

He was a humble man with a heart full of generosity and will be remembered by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 2-6 pm at the Klumb residence. Condolences can be mailed to the Klumb residence at 2592 Moran St. Marquette, MI 49855.
