Elizabeth S. “Betty” Beauchamp

MARQUETTE, MI – Elizabeth S. “Betty” Beauchamp, 90, of Marquette, passed away on Tuesday evening, April 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice at Mill Creek Assisted Living.

Betty was born on January 11, 1934, in Marquette, to Alphonse and Alvina (Jueneman) Buys. She was a 1952 graduate of Bishop Baraga High School.

Betty married Arthur J. “Art” Beauchamp on May 12, 1956 in Marquette at St. Michael Catholic Church. Together they shared 52 wonderful years together before Art’s passing on March 7, 2009.

Upon graduating high school, Betty began working at the A&P Grocery Store. She worked in the meat department for many years until the store closed.

Betty enjoyed the outdoors throughout all stages of her life, she loved crick-fishing, going for walks, four-wheeling and being at camp. She also enjoyed gardening, going to the casino and traveling. In her younger years she was active in playing tennis and took part in bowling leagues and did so for a number of years. Most of all Betty loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was involved in many church functions throughout the years.

Betty is survived by her three children, Edward J. (Gail) Beauchamp of Negaunee Township, Ann M. (Dennis) Bocklund and Cathy J. (Paul) Campbell, all of Marquette; five grandchildren, Julie Goin, Randy (Sheryl) Goin, Jennifer Campbell, Katelyn (Kyle) Wright and Emily Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Lana and Lydia Goin; three step-grandchildren, Marc, Shannon and Nichole; four step-great-grandchildren; her brother, D. Joseph (Mary) Buys; her sister, Ann Marie Wyrsch; her sister-in-law, Noreen Beauchamp; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Alphonse and Alvina Buys; her husband, Arthur J. “Art” Beauchamp; and her brother, Edward L. Buys.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, April 29, 2024 at St. Michael Catholic Church starting at 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gregory Heikkala officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery next to her husband at a later date.

The family would like to thank present and former staff at Mill Creek Assisted Living, U.P. Home Health and Hospice and Dr. Susan Balmer, MD and Nichol Trejo N.P., for their kind and compassionate care given to Betty.
