MARQUETTE, MI – Theresa Marie Gardner, affectionately known as Terry to her friends and loved ones, who passed away on March 4, 2024, at the age of 94 in Marquette, Michigan.

Terry’s life story is one of remarkable tenacity and vibrant charm, championing a legacy that echoes her remarkable spirit.

Terry’s journey began in Marine City, Michigan, where she was born on the 6th of November, 1929. Her early years were a true testament to her fortitude, rising from the challenges of being an orphan to a proud graduate of Marine City High School in 1949. Her unwavering willpower led her to continue her education at Harper Hospital’s Registered Nursing Program, from which she graduated in 1951. This set the stage for her distinguished career as a Registered Nurse, an occupation that not only suited her caring nature but also allowed her to make a lasting impact in the lives of countless individuals through her warmth and healing touch.

The essence of Terry’s life was marked by the joy she found in her family. Following her graduation, she married Ernest Charles Schultz, and the couple was blessed with a daughter, Deb Jean. Deb, along with her husband Bill and their son Ben, accompanied by Ben’s partner Erica Nelson, added profound joy and purpose to Terry’s life. Her role as a loving mother and doting grandmother was a source of immense pride and brought her immeasurable happiness.

Beyond her professional achievements and family life, Terry had a zest for living that was truly contagious. She possessed a green thumb, taking pleasure in tending to her garden, and was revered for her exceptional culinary skills as a gourmet cook. Her elegance and skill extended to the fairways, where she enjoyed the camaraderie and challenge of playing golf. Terry’s affection for her pet dogs reflected her compassionate and nurturing character, as they were a significant part of her life.

Moreover, Terry’s altruistic nature was evident through her active involvement with local charities. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she contributed her time and efforts to better the lives of others, making her a valued member of her community.

The warm memories of Terry’s unwavering charisma, indomitable spirit, and the love she shared will remain cherished by those who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and benevolence.

As per her wishes, a private memorial event will be held at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral & Cremation Services, where friends, family, and acquaintances will gather to honor her memory and celebrate the impact she made on all their lives.
