Nancy Hewitt

Nancy was born March 8, 1933 in Ishpeming to Bruno and Concetta (Tasson) Nardi and graduated from Ishpeming High School. She was united in marriage to the late Byron Hewitt and together they raised their family in Palmer.

Mrs. Hewitt was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Palmer. She enjoyed her daily walks, coffee clutching and Friday trips to Marquette with the girls on the MarqTran. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

Surviving are her two sons, Joseph Hewitt of West Bass Lake and Mark (Sue) Hewitt of Palmer; three grandchildren: Nichol (Moises) Trejo, Chelsea (Danny) Nelson and Caulder Hewitt; three great-grandchildren: Aubrea, Sophia and Walker; her brother, Francis ‘Cheeky’ Nardi of Ishpeming; her sister, Teresa (Melvin) Leivo of Palmer; special niece, Pamela Burkman; special friend, Linda; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Byron, in 2015; five sisters: Rose Collick, Mary Ivey, Deloris Jones, Patricia Burkman and Clara Guthrie; and two brothers, Bruno and Joseph Nardi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 21st at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am at the church on Thursday. Following Mass, a luncheon will be held in the church hall.
