Louise Connors

ISHPEMING, MI – Louise Connors, 95, of Ishpeming Township and longtime Negaunee resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, March 19, 2024 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility.

Louise was born June 8, 1928 in Prudenville, MI to Edward and Pearl (Howe) Chase and started her education in a small one-room school house until leaving to work and help support her family. She later earned her high school diploma locally. She held various jobs in her younger years, but was primarily a loving and devoted homemaker to her family, and also helped her husband, Jack Connors, run his business, Jack’s Radiator Shop. Following Jack’s passing, she became the head of housekeeping at the Brentwood Motor Inn, which was operated by her dear friends, Edwin and Paul Eliason.

She was a longtime member of the Negaunee Eagles Auxilary and the Negaunee Senior Center. In her spare time, she loved playing cribbage and pinoccle, BINGO, and was a loyal and avid Detroit Tigers fan. She tirelessly cared for others, and always put the needs of others in front of her own. She was incredibly proud of her grandson, David, and all his lifelong athletic, scholastic and leadership accomplishments, including his on-going 25-year career with the United States Navy.

Surviving are her two daughters, Delores ‘Dee’ Connors of Ishpeming, and Louise ‘Elaine’ (Wayne Backlund) of Otsego; her grandson, Comm. David St. Aubin USN; her ‘adopted by love’ grandson, Andy Dravland; her sister-in-law, Sharon Connors; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her longtime best friend, Mary Nelson; and dear friends and neighbors, Jim and Andrea, and Patsy and Rex.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John ‘Jack’ Connors in 1982; her siblings: Walter, Harvey, Edward, Everette, Clara and Pearl; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Viola, Marcella, Eileen, Agnes, Lucille, Robert, Donald and Neil.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring and compassionate staff at the Marquette County Medical Facility, and to the caregivers at Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.

Honoring Louise’s wishes, no public services will be held.
