Christine Gill

NEGAUNEE, MI – Christine B. Gill, 71, of Negaunee, passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2024 after a brief illness.

Christine was born Sept. 19, 1952 in Sault Ste. Marie to Charles (John) and Barbara (Malloy) Morley, as the oldest of four children. She met her best friend and love of her life, Michael, and they were married April 22, 1972 at Kincheloe AFB. Christine and Mike had two beautiful children, and settled into married life and parenthood. As a military family, they were stationed in Lower Michigan, Florida, Germany and New York State.

During her life, she enjoyed art, ceramics, and crafts of all sorts. At each base they were stationed, you could find Christine at the ceramic shop, creating treasures for family. She briefly worked at the ceramic shop on Griffiss AFB, teaching classes in painting techniques and ceramic pouring. When Mike retired from the Air Force in 1990, they moved back to Sault Ste. Marie. Christine held a tutoring position, traveled to a few different elementary schools in the area, through a grant from the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians, of which she was a member.

Mike and Christine relocated to Negaunee in 1997, and after a brief hiatus, she became a tutor at Lakeview Elementary in Negaunee, again through grants for Native American studies.

Christine is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Michael, her children Christopher and Michelle, her grandchildren Allie, Marissa, CJ and Brayden. She was also a great-grandmother. She is also survived by her brother David and sister-in-law Cynthia Morley, and sister Ann. She is also survived by her nephews, Joshua and Brian, and niece Robin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest brother, Michael.

There will be a graveside service, as per Christine’s wishes, for family and close friends and she will be interred at Negaunee Cemetery. Christine’s memorial page may be viewed at koskeyfuneralhome.com.
