Marilyn Kay Koshorek

CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI – Marilyn Kay Koshorek, age 86, of Chocolay Township, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming.

She was born October 16, 1937, in Walled Lake, Michigan, the ninth of ten children born to Harold and Irma (Clark) Beagle. She was educated at the Walled Lake schools, graduating in 1955, and continued her education at Eastern Michigan University where she received her teaching certificate. On June 23, 1962, Marilyn was united in marriage to Ron Koshorek and together the couple resided in Michigan, Ohio, and Washington State. They finally settled in Marquette to raise their two sons, John and Alex. Marilyn taught school for 32 years, concluding her career at the Skandia School, retiring in June 1995. Marilyn enjoyed traveling, especially where Ron could saltwater fish. She was a Red Hatter and enjoyed singing with the Sunshine Girls, and participating in RSVP.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by a son, John; three sisters, Irma Ruth (the late Charles) Palmieri, and Phyllis (the late Joe) Barker, and Rhea (the late William) Cheney; five brothers, Howard (the late Peg), Glenn (the late Betty), Richard (the late Shirley), Jerry, and Robert Beagle; in-laws, Bert and Stephanie Koshorek.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ron; son, Alex (Mary) and their daughters, Victoria and Olivia of Menominee; her sister, Shirley (George) Wilson of Waterford; sister-in-law, Bonnie Beagle of Walled Lake; and special friends, Pat and Norm Gruber of Marquette; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

One of her favorite quotes was, “Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “holy shit, what a ride!”

Honoring her request, no services will be scheduled.

Memorials may be directed to the Peter White Public Library, 217 N. Front Street, Marquette, MI 49855, in her memory.
