Lynn Allen Brown
Lynn Allen Brown
GWINN, MI- Lynn Allen Brown, age 74, of Gwinn, stepped from this world into the next with his wife at his side on February 12, 2024.
No matter how you knew him, Lynn, L.A. or Browndog, Lynn Brown was born in Monroe, Michigan on October 16, 1949 to the late Bobby Eugene and Lois Jean (Sellers) Brown. He graduated from Onsted High School in Onsted, Michigan in 1967 and joined Air Force Security Forces as a policeman. He was injured during the Vietnam War from a nearby bombing while guarding the airfield he was stationed at, one that he was proud to have guarded Air Force One at when the president visited. After two tours he was stationed in Illinois where as an MP he guarded the same gate his father guarded when he was an MP in the Air Force.
He left the military and worked for the Aurora Police Department in Aurora, Colorado before taking a job with the Department of Interior police force in Lakewood, Colorado where he met his wife, Denise.
Several years later, he took a job with the US Postal Service and relocated to Marquette in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to be near his aging parents. He and Denise chose to live in Gwinn where they made their home for over thirty years.
Lynn loved the wilderness. He enjoyed boating in the summer, hunting and fishing in any weather. He was also a NASCAR fan and very faithful to his Michigan sports teams, The Redwings, Lions and Tigers.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Bobby Brown; grandparents; aunts, uncles; and several cousins.
He is survived by his wife, Denise; sister, Carolyn Johnston of Pflugerville, TX; brother, Jeffrey (Marlene) Brown of Ann Arbor, MI; surviving and thriving are his children, Sandra (Brett) Campbell, Eric Brown, Shane Popham and Christina (Michael) Hanson. He leaves behind many beloved grandchildren; his favorite cousins; nieces, Eva (Steve), Roxanna (Terry), Meagan (Nick) and Miranda (Markus) and all their children and beloved pets. He also leaves numerous in-laws, whom he loved; countless friends, whom he treasured. He also parts ways with many very special friends, the closest being Jon Anderson, Ed Kelso, Gary Sullivan-brothers all- and Chad Stachler, the son he would have chosen if he had been given the chance.
Lynn was gregarious, yes, but at heart he didn’t want notoriety. Fittingly, we will have a graveside gathering with family and friends at a later date in Grand Marais, Michigan. No need to send flowers to the family; the best way to honor him is with a toast of remembrance with the beverage of your choice and a loved one. He lived well and died on his own terms.
Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family where memories of Lynn may be shared at Canale funeral.com.
