Edward Sobczak

Ed was born July 26, 1941. He married his wife, Barbara (Wiebke) on August 13, 1966. Together they had two children, Brian (Marcy) Sobczak and Dana (Derek) Swajanen, and six Grandchildren; Taylor (Brendan) Malmstead, Courtland Hendershot, Hannah (Michael) Anderson, Gabriella Swajanen, Genevieve Sobczak and Charlyeann Swajanen. Edward is also survived by his sister Nancy (Steve) Solomon and preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Kathryn (Banka) and siblings Dolores Bour, Alice (Bud) Kelly, Rose Farkas and Tom (Jill) Sobczak.

Ed enjoyed spending his free time golfing, watching the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. He loved to watch his grandchildren in their various activities from hockey, tennis, musicals, plays, track, soccer, weightlifting and softball. He also loved going for rides to Grand Haven with his wife, helping her plant flowers and maintaining her beautiful gardens. His family was very important to him. He showed his love by sharing special times with them and then sharing stories about everything he experienced. He will surely be missed by anyone that was blessed enough to have him in their lives.

Out of respect for his wishes there will only be a small gathering at a later date to celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in his name to the National Kidney Foundation.
