Douglas S. Boyle

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI – Douglas S. Boyle, age 72, was called home to the Lord on February 4, 2024, for his work here on earth was done. Doug passed away at the Trillium House under the care of his loving wife, Lisa Boyle, and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Douglas was born in Marquette, Michigan on January 11, 1952, to Charles and Ada (Eastley) Boyle. The family home was at Tourist Park and Doug always joked that he had the life of Thomas Sawyer and Huck Finn growing up there.

Doug graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Northern Michigan University. Doug was drafted into the Vietnam War, but due to his father becoming ill and his mother needing help, he returned home.

Doug worked at LS&I Railroad for 27 years but had to retire early due to health complications.

Doug enjoyed everything outdoors; hunting, fishing, walking the beach looking for agates, and traveling, and was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of going to Ireland with his wife Lisa in 2017. Nature remained an important part of his life. Doug was committed to the environment and enjoyed preserving our natural resources.

Doug is survived by his wife and best friend, Lisa Boyle; sisters Ada Ruohomaki and Kathy (Danny) Pompo; his children Jennifer (Hugo) Munoz and Zachary (Carolyn) Boyle; stepchildren Nicole (Chris) Perrier and Rick (Stephanie) Perrier; sisters-in-law Judy Boyle, Carol Boyle, Kris Hazeres and Shari (Ed) Quayle; mother-in-law Mary Hazeres; Aunt Dorothy Eastley; his ex-daughter-in-law Jennifer Aldrich, and his lifelong best friend Andy Miller, who he shared many great adventures with. Doug had 11 grandchildren Kaya, Kaylin, Kerra, Abby, Chelsea, Dominck, Sky, Sheldon, Amira, Cole, and Aria; 7 great-grandchildren Luca, Diana, RyRy, Alvin, Franklin, Mateo, and Cooper. He always put them first in his priorities and they were one of his greatest joys in life. A special thank you to his grandson Sheldon. Sheldon was very devoted and helpful to his grandpa. He’d come over often to play cards, cribbage, or just to chat. Doug is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doug was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ada Boyle; sisters Nancy Mosca and Mary DeMerse; infant brother, James Boyle; brothers John “Jack”ù Boyle, Herb Boyle, and Thomas Boyle; brothers-in-law Les Ruohomaki and Rudy Mosca; father-in-law George Hazeres, and his uncle John Eastly.

Doug always encouraged others to put God first in their life and trust in him. One of his favorite quotes that he shared with his best friend Andy was to “keep on keeping on”ù.

Honoring Doug’s wishes, no services will be held.

A special thank you to the staff at Trillium House and UP Home Health and Hospice who were so kind and compassionate during this trying time.
