Carole Ann Prisk

Carole was born November 30, 1947 in Pittsburgh, California to John and Evelyn (Veale) Negilski. Her father was a military man, and US Army kept the family on the move. She graduated from Killeen High School in Texas, Class of 1965, and then moved to Negaunee. She continued her education at Northern Michigan University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in education. She married Gerald ‘Jerry’ Prisk on September 3, 1966, and they enjoyed over 57 years of marriage.

Carole was a longtime educator, who was a teacher in the Community Schools for over 40 years. She was honored to be named Upper Peninsula Community Schools teacher of the year, and was also a state regional literacy facilitator.

In her quilting days, Carole was the first president of the Marquette County Quilters Association, and was a frequent contributor to many quilting magazines. She had a passion for antiques; buying, selling and being surrounded by them. She was also a proud member and elder of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Surviving are her loving husband, Gerald ‘Jerry’ Prisk; her son, Brad (Jennifer Wallace) Prisk; daughter, Corey (Troy) Hendges of Hudsonville, MI; her beloved grandchildren, Hunter Prisk and Nora Hendges; her sister, Lynn (Tom) St. Aubin; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her loving dog, Yankee; and terrible cat, Marco.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Joe Negilski.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 8th at Koskey Funeral Home, Negaunee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Carole’s memory to UPAWS.
