Roberta Henderson

MARQUETTE, MI – Roberta “Bobbie” Henderson, 94, of Marquette, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 2, 2024 at Trillium House.

She was born July 27, 1929, in Mosinee, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Roy and Marie (Dittman) Henderson.

Bobbie earned a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in library science and a second Master’s degree from the University of Denver.

She was employed at NMU as a professor/librarian beginning in 1971, working there for many years where she ultimately earned the Distinguished Faculty Award and was honored by NMU by having a room named after her. In her free time, Bobbie enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Ken Satoh of Tokyo, Japan. whom she married on December 21, 2007; niece, Laura Henderson of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; nephews, Craig Henderson of San Diego, CA and Kevin (Synda) Henderson of Snohomish, WA; many cousins as well as her dear friend, Gloria Pansier. Preceding Bobbie in death besides her parents was a brother, Lennart Henderson.

A celebration of Bobbie’s life will take place on Thursday, January 11th from 2 to 4 p.m. at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services where coffee and sweets will be served.
