Lee Everett Berglund II
SKANDIA, MI- Lee Everett Berglund II, age 50, of Skandia, passed away suddenly Friday, January 12, 2024, while at work at the Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad.
Lee’s wife, Crystal, and two sons, Colton and Connor, were the center of his world. The pride he had for his boys gleamed from him at their games and when he spoke of what great young men they are becoming. He and his wife were the ultimate team and enjoyed tackling life together. Over their 13 years together they enjoyed remodeling properties, gardening, traveling to watch the boys sporting events, and exploring the areas along the way.
Lee had many interests and could fix just about anything “except Connor’s dirt bike”. Over his 25 year career on the railroad he was employed with the WC, M Bar D, CN, and LS&I in various positions. He loved the challenge of cleaning up derailments most. Being at home was his favorite place. You could find him in his garage fixing a truck, loader, mower “anything his family broke” or working on a new wood project or building Crystal something she saw on Pinterest. If he wasn’t in the garage he was probably in the woods cutting trees or moving dirt with the loader.
His shell was tough but his heart was big and he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his dad and mom, Lee and Vonda Berglund; and his daughter, Angela LeeAnn Berglund.
Survivors include his wife, Crystal Berglund; sons, Colton and Connor Berglund all of Skandia; several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his lifelong friends, Myron Jr., Keith, and Andy Johnson.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Monday, January 22, beginning at 3:00 pm until the time of service at 5:00 pm. Pastor Chad Mager will officiate. A reception will follow in the funeral home reception room. Interment will be made in the Emanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Berglund Family at 3694 County Road 456, Skandia, MI 49885.
