Lee Crothers

MARQUETTE, MI – Lee Raymond Crothers, age 75, of Marquette, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2023, at UP Health System-Marquette.

Lee was born January 27, 1948, in Marquette, a son of Albert and Monica (Gobert) Crothers. Lee was raised in Marquette and graduated from Marquette Senior High School, Class of 1966. Following graduation, he met his future wife, Chris Holly, and the couple was united in marriage on June 14, 1969. Together, the couple made their home in Marquette where they raised their family. Lee began his working career as a bricklayer for Arnold Construction and, after several years, left to work as a plant repairman at CCI’s Tilden Mine. He retired from CCI in 2010 following 20 plus years of service to the company. In his leisure moments, Lee could usually be found hunting, fishing, traveling, attending dog shows, or watching and feeding wildlife. Known as “Mr. Know It All” for his ability to remember trivial facts, he was outgoing and loved to socialize, just a happy, go lucky person. Lee was a member of Bricklayers Local #2 and the United Steelworkers Union.

Lee is survived by his wife, Chris; son, Chad (Leslie) Crothers of Marquette; grandson, Travis Crothers of Marquette; great-grandson, Kaden Crothers of Marquette; his brothers, Blane Crothers of Jacksonville, FL, Brian (Brenda) Crothers of Marquette; a sister, Colleen (John) Sparks of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; a sister-in-law, Terry Holly of Gwinn; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special canine companion, Mischief.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Crothers.

Honoring his request, no public services will be held.

Memorials may be directed to UPAWS (Upper Peninsula Animal Shelter), 815 S. M-553, Gwinn, MI 49841.
