Austin Roemer

MANISTIQUE, MI- Austin “Auggie” Paul Rueben Roemer, 30, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2024.
The son of Paul (Christa) Roemer and Diane Keller, Austin was born April 3,1993 in Traverse City, MI and attended Marquette Area schools, graduating in 2011. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Manistique, MI, a community that embraced him and a place he loved to call home.
Not a man of many words, Austin, fondly known as Auggie, was a quiet, gentle, hard-working man with a kind heart and an infectious smile. He loved the river and enjoyed his time at camp; hunting, riding his side by side or just building a good fire.
He leaves behind his parents Paul and Christa Roemer of Manistique and Diane Keller of Marquette. Grandparents, Ruth Roemer, Christine and Dewaine Dixon; Siblings, Abigail Roemer, Jake Roemer, Ryan Ramey, Jordan (Karissa Gregurash) Ramey; Aunts and Uncles, Jack (Patti) Roemer, Carla (Mike) Westervelt, Jill (Rick) Farley, Becky (Jerome) Larson, Kevin (Ashley) Smith, Darren (Haley) Smith, Robert (Merilee) Keller, Tom Keller, Danny (Barb) Keller. Nieces and nephews, Liam, Stella, Nimiki; many cousins and numerous friends, especially Danny, Brett, Nick, Steve, and Rocky.
He was preceded in death by grandparents: Jack Roemer, Daniel D. Smith, Robert and Evelyn Keller; Aunt Cheryl Roemer Stanlake, cousins Albert and Billy Roemer.
Auggie touched the hearts of so many, including his family at Manistique Lakeshore campground and all their guests, the City of Manistique and all the loyal customers who relied on Auggie to keep their lawns trimmed and driveways shoveled.
Auggie died like he lived, helping others. He touched the hearts of so many and this world was truly a better place with him in it. Rest easy Auggie, you will be sadly missed and forever loved.
A special thank you to Manistique Public Safety, Michigan State Police, Michigan DNR, numerous responders; Eric, Kyle, Mike, the Tallman family, and their surrounding neighbors and Fausett Family Funeral Homes for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manistique Lakeshore Campground for a memorial bench in Austin’s honor.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January, 22, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a mass of Christian burial to follow at St. Francis de Sales Parish, Manistique, with Father Ben Paris presiding.
