Richard William Reader

Born January 18, 1945, in Marquette, a son of Ernest and Edna (Zerbel) Reader, Richard was raised in Marquette and graduated from Graveraet High School, Class of 1963. He attended Northern Michigan University for two years and then entered the machinist apprenticeship training for four years. For over 40 years, Richard was employed as a machinist with the Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad. Richard belonged to the Marquette County Conversation District where he served as a board member being active for over 30 years. He was also a member and officer of the Railroad Worker Union. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed playing cards, making maple syrup, cutting firewood and logs, and lifelong farmer.

Richard is survived by his wife, Kay; and Champs.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Green Garden, on Monday, December 4, beginning at 5:30 pm until the time of service at 7:00 pm. Rev. John Ruege, pastor, will officiate. A light lunch will follow in the church fellowship hall.
