James “Wilbur” Jennings
CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, MI – James “Wilbur” Jennings, age 62, of Chocolay Township, entered eternal life Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Trillium House, in the loving, comforting care of his family.
Born March 20, 1961, in Marquette, a son of Robert James and Jane Alice (Hill) Jennings, Wilbur was raised in the Marquette area but relocated to the East coast in 1977 where he was employed as an auto mechanic. After returning to Marquette in 1983 he was employed with local area auto shops and most recently at Lutey”Ćs Heritage Motors in Harvey. In his spare time, Wilbur enjoyed time spent with family and friends, fishing, and he loved growing tomatoes.
Wilbur is survived by his three sons, Wilbur (Amy) Jennings, Jr, of Marquette, Donald Jennings of Gladstone, and Justin Jennings of Ishpeming; three grandchildren, Hennah Jennings, Vivien and Leif Jennings; three sisters, Carolyn (Paul) Waters, Kate Jennings, and Corrine Stentz all of Marquette; five brothers, Terry (Deborah) Jennings of Gwinn, Ron Jennings of Marquette, Steve Jennings of Skandia, Phillip Jennings of Marquette, and Michael (Barb) Jennings of Englewood, CO; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his twin brother, Joe Jennings.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey on Tuesday, December 12, beginning at 10:00 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Rev. Tom Merkel, celebrant. A reception will follow in Fr. Gauthier Hall. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
