Inez E. Christian

She was born September 23, 1924, in Marquette, a daughter of the late Lee and Mary (Elliott) McGinley. She was a 1942 graduate of John D. Pierce High School and was a lifelong area resident.

On March 2, 1946 she married Robert J. Christian at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette.

In her youth, Inez worked as a file clerk at Murray Corporation during WWII. The company helped the war effort building aircraft wings. She later was employed at Shopko and retired in 1985 after 10 years of service to the company.

She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She enjoyed walking, working on crossword puzzles, going to camp and traveling. Inez and her husband spent 14 winters in Florida following their retirements.

Inez is survived by two children, Robert (Cheryl) Christian of Marquette and Nancy K. (John) Horstketter of Spokane Valley, WA; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert J. Christian; brothers, Richard and Dennis McGinley; and sister, Margaret Shorkey.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 12 Noon at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation services with Rev. Gregory Heikkila officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. A luncheon will follow the service. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bay Cliff Health Camp.
