Gordon Harlow Lawry

ISHPEMING, MI- Gordon Harlow Lawry, 90, passed away Dec. 6, 2023. He was born Aug. 28, 1933, in Ishpeming to the late Gordon A. and Dorothy Lawry. The family moved to Marquette where Gordon graduated from Graveraet High School in 1951. During the Korean War, he served in the Navy as a radio/radar operator. and went on to study metallurgical engineering at Michigan Tech, eventually ending up in the plastics industry and settling in Charlotte, NC. Forever changing the Thanksgiving holiday, he was recognized for inventing the oven turkey bag and co-inventor of spiral-wound tube containers for biscuits.

A loving husband to his wife, Beverley (Anderson) Lawry, also from Ishpeming, Gordon also leaves behind his sons Roger of Ojai, CA, and Jon, Waleska, GA, siblings-in-law Stephen Anderson (Amy) of Negaunee, Elaine Anderson Rolzin (Steve) of Plymouth, WI, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grands. Gordon was preceded in death by his son Bruce Lawry and his sister Glenys Jachimski.
