Dorothy Quinn Brady

MARQUETTE, MI – Dorothy Jean Brady, 92, of Marquette, passed away on December 4, 2023 at Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee.

Dorothy was born on May 30, 1931 in Marquette to the late Clarence and Mary Jo (Houle) LeMire and had been a lifelong area resident.

Dorothy married John “Jake” Brady on December 19, 1980 in Marquette.

Dorothy was formally employed as a nurses aide in her younger years and later she and her husband, Jake, delivered the Capital Action Shopper for many years. After her retirement, she enjoyed time outside, walking in the woods and cross-country skiing. She was known for her rock gardens.

She is survived by her children, Nancy (Barry) Greenleaf of Marquette, Jim (DiaAnn) Quinn of Green Bay, WI, Charlene Harrison of Cedar Bluff, VA, Bob Quinn Jr. of Sturgeon Bay, WI and Sherielynn (Chris) Henning of Duvall, WA; three step-children, Terry (Carol) Brady of Big Bay, Steve (Cathy) Brady of Marquette and Laura (Jack) Moore of FL; 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her special lifelong friend, Rose Morceau. Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert James Quinn Sr. in 1977; second husband, John Brady; sister, Nancy Ellis; and two children, Kenneth and Debbie Quinn.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 2pm at Canale-Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Tom Merkel officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will immediately take place following the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring of 2024.
