Donald Richard O’Connor

Born March 23, 1940, in Limestone, Michigan, a son of John and Elizabeth (Beckman) O’Connor, Don was raised in Marquette and attended the Graveraet School. In 1970, he began working as a beer distributor at Pike Distributing until he retired in 2010. In his spare time, Don enjoyed hunting, brook trout fishing, and spending time with family and friends at deer camp. He was an avid Packer fan and loved playing cribbage in his cribbage league.

Don is survived by his four children, Ken (Sue Rotondo) O’Connor of Spring Grove, IL, Shelia (Ralph Miller) O’Connor of Melbourne, FL, Teresa O’Connor Evans of Marquette, and Casey (Devin Olson) O’Connor of Marquette; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his half-brother, Robert Beckman of Marquette; brothers-in-law, Denis Thibodeau and David Thibodeau; his sister-in-law, Mary Thibodeau; many nieces and nephews; his best buddy, Joe VanBeynen; his close neighbors, Kevin and Michelle McLaughlin; and his feline companion, Odie. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife Teresa O’Connor; a son, William O’Connor; his sister, Eleanor; and a brother, Lloyd.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Tuesday, December 19, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. This will be an informal time for the sharing of memories, conversation, and dessert. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring.
