Donald K. Englund

SKANDIA, MI- Donald K. Englund, 74, of Skandia, entered eternal life Saturday afternoon, November 11, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice.

Donald was born on September 6, 1949 in Marquette, the son of Earl and Celia (Lusardi) Englund and the late Joe Kodanko. He was a graduate of Rock High School.

On May 18, 1974, he married the love of his life, Patricia Vallier. A devoted husband and father, they made Skandia their home where they raised their three children.

For over 30 years, Donald was employed by Cleveland Cliffs as a heavy equipment operator. After retirement he worked for All-Phase Electric. He was a member of the Skandia United Methodist Church (Marquette Hope) and a member of the Skandia West Branch Fire Department for 27 years. It was with that department where his family grew as he met so many new friends that he considered family.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia and his children, Kelly (Craig) Marker, Chris (Jim) Greenleaf and Tammy (Scott) St. Aubin; brothers, Ronald (Mary Jane) Englund and Duane (Diane) Englund; his loving grandchildren, Courtney, Alexis, James, Aubrey, Morgan, Kylah, Brittney, Heather, and Curtis; three great grandchildren and also many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stanley Englund; also three sisters, Carrie Lampinen, Dorothy Syrjanen and Louise Sherbinow.

The Englund family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, November 20th at the Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home beginning at 1:30 p.m. until the time of the memorial service in the funeral home at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Erica Thomas officiating. Burial will take place in the Gwinn Cemetery.

A luncheon will be served during the visitation in the Lindeman Reception Room located in the funeral home.

Donald’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff of U.P. Home Health and Hospice for their exceptional care of Don during his final illness.
