MARQUETTE, MI – Kenneth W. Kampe, age 65, of Marquette, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at home.

Ken was born September 20, 1958, in Marquette, a son of Herman and Joan (Robinson) Kampe and was raised in Marquette where he loved to snowmobile and go four-wheeling. He attended Marquette Senior High School where he was captain of the swim team, graduating in the Class of 1976. He enlisted in the Army National Guard, while also working for Tire Distributors. In 1984, Ken went into active duty, serving as the recruiter for the Army National Guard in the Upper Peninsula. Following his honorable discharge in 1998, Ken began a second career at Menards as a contractor representative, retiring in June of 2019. In his spare time, Ken was certified as a master scuba diver and loved diving in the Cayman Islands. His other interests and hobbies included a love of camping, hunting, and attending his children’s and grandkid’s activities. Family was everything to him. Ken was an avid Vikings fan and really anything but the Packers. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, had served as Exalted Ruler of Marquette Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 405, and was a very strong supporter of White Tails.

Ken is survived by his wife, Beth Kampe; daughters, Katy (Mike) Brady of Gwinn, Krissy (Rich) Vanderschaegen of Munising, and Kelly Kampe of Green Bay, WI; his grandchildren, Madalyn Brady, Hayden Brady, and Michael Brady; great-grandson, Theo Brady; his sisters, Judy Brissette, Gail DeMarse, and Bonnie (Kurt) Tatge; and his lifelong best friend, Jim Veiht.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws.

Friends may call at the Silver Creek Church, in Harvey, on Monday, October 9, beginning at 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon.

Rev. Kevin Taylor will officiate. A reception will follow in the church fellowship room.
